 Portrait painting is a fascinating profession. You work with so many different people from every walk of life (Royalty, Presidents and Plumbers!) and in so many different parts of the world. I drew as a child and I suppose aged about twelve, became conscious that I was already on the portraiture road. Since then I have continued without break, painting, doing commissions but always tempering this with work which is self-generated and non-commissioned. The latter are my 'pickups' - faces I see and pounce on to sit for me. It's an exciting, enriching business.
